IGP Gave Automatic Promotion To 30 Gallant Police Officers

IGP rewards 30 gallant FCT Police officers with automatic promotions


Luck shined has shone on thirty Police Officers attached to the FCT Abuja Area Command, when the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris, rewarded them with automatic promotions.

Idris, who paid a working visit to the command at the weekend as part of his activities to mark his one year in office, said that the gesture was to reward gallantry, dedication, discipline and diligence.

He said:'' I doled out these promotions to these lucky officers as part of my unrelenting commitment to recognize merit and uprightness, hence, lavishing out the carrot.

He said as police officer, am sure you know you are occupying a very sensitive structure in this country, being serving in FCT, Abuja,  the seat and heart of government; as such you have the major democratic decisions here.

“The presidency, Nation Assembly and Judiciary and other very sensitive national so your responsibility should not be taken lightly,

It was on this note, that IGP Idris directed the Police Commissioner, FCT to propose names of 20 police officers from ranks and files, 10 inspectors for the special promotion to their new ranks

'' Yet, this does not mean that, we will not wield the big stick in the event of any confirmed case of infraction and indiscipline.

'' The management of Nigeria however remains fully committed to the ceaseless welfare, comfort and security of all officers and men.

'' Officers and men nationwide should therefore continue to uphold the tenets of discipline, diligence and patriotism.''

He commended the officers and men of the command for working relentlessly to keep Abuja and its environs more secure.

While urging them not to rest on their oars, adding that “we should try to ensure that Abuja has been given the maximum protection and police service”.

“This obviously is very important to give the central government the best of security and protection,  so I want all of you to be up and doing in safeguarding Abuja and indeed the entire country.

According to him, “am happy today in every ramification, because our police service has made us proud in tackling most of the security challenges in this country, urging them not to relent on that direction”

“I want us to continue to exhibit the best of behavior in our contact with the community, while on our roads, police stations as well as investigation bodies, we should conduct ourselves in the best attributes of a police officer”, IGP Idris averred

Idris explained that officers and men of the service should Endeavour to do exhibit good characters that will sell their image and integrity to the public, adding that, “as police officers, we should shun police of corruption, harassment, intimidation of innocent people”.

Police boss maintained that the police force was meant to protect and serve, “we are just like the servant of the people.

The police chief reminded officers and men of the force that they are recruited to serve, protect people’s lives and properties.
