The Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji
Shehu Idris, praised the nation's no 1 super cop , IGP Ibrahim Idris for
his efforts in fighting crimes across the country.
The Royal father made call on Saturday during a courtesy
visit to the palace by the Inspector General of police, Ibrahim Idris.
According to him, “The emergence of Idris as IGP has brought
renewed rigour to the fight against crime.
Officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force are now more
committed to ensuring a crime-free Nigeria.
“The IGP is dogged and patriotic fighter that has
demonstrated a strong commitment to effective policing," Idris added.
He noted that crime rate in his domain had reduced
drastically and urged the police to sustain the efforts.
The royal father further called for more efforts to check
vices like electoral fraud, insurgency, kidnapping, terrorism, cattle rustling
and rape.
He also appealed to the National Assembly to appropriate
more funds to the police to effectively address the security challenges
confronting the nation, adding that a lot would be achieved with more funding
given the professionalism brought in by IGP Idris.
Earlier, IGP Ibrahim Idris was in Zaria for the wedding
fatiha of a daughter of CP Garba Umar, Commissioner of Police of Anambra state.
He emphasised the
critical role the traditional institution play in complementing the efforts of
security operatives in crime control.
The police boss attributed the modest achievements of the
police in crime fighting to the support of traditional rulers, and called for
more cooperation so as to record more successes.
